Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington and Jorge Masvidal were friends, but maybe things changed when Covington beat Masvidal. They once had the best relationship and were almost joined at the hip. Their bromance is known by the whole UFC industry, but the duo has been on horrible terms for some time now. They have even landed punches for 25 whole minutes in the octagon as well

They fought each other in the welterweight division at UFC 272 for 25 minutes, but this was not always the case between them. However, after 8 years, their friendship has turned sour. Covington addressed this in his interview with Tucker Carlson and said, Yeah we were best friends for 8 years. We lived together for three years best friends.”

He also added about what MMA can do to people and said, “That’s what this sport does to people. People will sell out their friends for money. All he wanted was fame and money so as soon as I started reaching up, and getting high in this sport? That’s when he took it personally.”

They even had an act where the duo decided that if they fought, they would keep it cordial. Their bromance started when Covington met Masvidal after a successful wrestling career at Oregon College. They met at the American Top Team in South Florida, where Masvidal was already training. However, everything changed in 2022, and ‘Chaos’ only had harsh words for ‘Gamebred’. A lot was going on, and the feud even went legal.

Masvidal and Covington fallout

Two weeks after losing to Covington in UFC 272, Masvidal allegedly assaulted Covington outside a steakhouse. This led to the latter having a chipped tooth, and he also claimed that he had sustained brain damage.

Masvidal explained to VladTV, “It just so happens after he drops that video [threatening to kill Masvidal], allegedly, he runs into a motherf***er that looks like me and that motherf***er that looks like me tells him what’s up and beats his motherf***ing ass and that motherf***er gets in trouble and then they blame me, allegedly. So it’s just, like, weird to me like, man we’re both pro fighters at the end of the day.”

Masvidal said that since they were both professional fighters, they had been going all out in public, so he said that the court did not see the assault as a “big deal.” The 39-year-old was also recounting that Covington was scared and ran away to call the cops. Masvidal was arrested, but he did not execute his jail time because he pleaded guilty and cut a plea deal with the prosecutor. Since then, their friendship has ended, and now it is a complete enemy situation. What are your thoughts on their opinions of each other?
