Conor McGregor last fought in a TKO loss against Dustin ‘Diamond’ Poirier at UFC 264. In the same fight, the former champ appeared to snap his leg. Since then, McGregor is recovering from his leg injury. And if his recent training videos are any indication, he is rearing to mark his Octagon return.

But the boxing legend Mike Tyson believes that Conor McGregor should try to get his “feet wet” before committing to a big fight.

Mike Tyson, in a conversation with another UFC two-division champ, Henry Cejudo, discussed Conor McGregor’s next opponent. Further, Iron Mike advised the Dublin-born fighter to get his confidence back.

The ‘Triple C’ on his podcast ‘Cejudo’s Picks’ sat with the legendary boxer, Mike Tyson. The ‘Iron Mike’ has a reputation for having a fierce approach both inside and outside the ring.

Mike Tyson’s advice to Conor McGregor

The former UFC champion Henry Cejudo asked ‘Iron Mike’ what would be a suitable approach for Conor McGregor, straightaway fighting for a title or getting his feet wet first. Subsequently, the fighter-turned-analyst revealed his pick for McGregor’s opponent.

Following this, Mike Tyson replied, “I’m a strong believer that after a defeat, he[Conor McGregor] should do a couple of fights to get his feet wet, yes. I strongly believe that.”

‘The Messenger’ soon followed up with a question. He asked what advice the legendary boxer would give to Conor McGregor as if he was watching this.

Tyson replied emphatically, “Conor, I think you should build your confidence up and go do what you do, win excitingly.”

In the same segment, Henry Cejudo reiterated his opinion of Tony Ferguson being McGregor’s next opponent. However, Tyson suggested that might turn out to be a “tough fight” for the Irishman.

He continued on similar lines and suggested sorting his fights. Therefore, he concluded, “I want no big-time guy. Let him [Conor McGregor] get three fights and build his confidence back up. Every fight, the opponent goes to a higher level.”

Tyson might be the best man to advise the Dublin-born as the legendary boxer has seen the ups-downs of the fight game. Further, Tyson understands how tough the fighting game is and how comeback fights are a distinct challenge.
