BREAKING: ESPN to Hike UFC Pay-Per-View Prices to $74.99 Starting From January 2022

After wrapping up 2021, UFC President Dana White praised the company’s performance in the calendar year and even touted it as the best year for the business. The UFC succeeded as it put out cards that amazed the fans and kept them tuning in for more. However, it’s going to be even more expensive to continue remaining a dedicated fan of the promotion as ESPN is set to hike prices on UFC events in January 2022.
ESPN+, the exclusive broadcasting partner of the UFC, will raise the pay-per-view prices by $5, i.e. from $69.99 to $74.99. Notably, ESPN has also hiked its ESPN+ pay-per-view package rates, which include a yearly subscription to the streaming service and a single UFC PPV event. Now, the package, which was previously $89.98, will cost $99.98.

The price hike comes in effect after an astronomical rise in profits for UFC’s parent company Endeavor. Notably, the company went public in April 2021 and reported total revenue of $1.4 billion with a net income of $63.6 million.
The talent management and entertainment enterprises credited UFC for the lion’s share in its revenue, as other ventures were still recovering from the pandemic. Interestingly, the CEO of Endeavor, Ari Emanuel, labeled the initial quarters of the UFC as the “best nine-month, year-to-date period in UFC history.”
History of UFC PPV price hikes
The new UFC pay-per-view rates mark the third instance where ESPN has hiked the PPV prices since becoming the promotion’s exclusive broadcasting partner.
They announced the partnership in April 2018 and offered UFC PPV events at a steep cost of $59.99. However, pay-per-view prices for increased to $64.99 at the start of 2020. Another $5 addition took the PPV rates to $69.99 in 2021.

The new $74.99 fees will come into effect for the UFC’s first pay-per-view event of 2022, i.e. UFC 270.
The event includes two star-studded championship bouts. While Francis Ngannou will defend his heavyweight belt against interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane in the main event, Brandon Moreno will defend his flyweight belt against former champion Deiveson Figueiredo in a trilogy.
