UFC 290 has already become talk of the town due to yesterday’s tweet mania. The new subscription-based verification policy launched by the social media platform has caused a lot of problems lately. A charlatan stole the Twitter identity of MMA journalist Ariel Helwani.

He tweeted impersonating the media personality that Conor McGregor Vs Charles Oliveira will feature on the UFC 290 card. This sent netizens in frenzy.

The rumored fight would have happened on June 23rd at the 170 class. It would have embarked on the redemption arc for Conor ‘The Notorious’ McGregor, who since UFC 264 is inactive. Oliveira and Helwani tweeted in response to this confusion.

The fanbase both the fighters bring is crazy. The Brazilian has a die-hard following in his country and ‘The Notorious’ is probably the most supported superstar in the promotion. This led to social media getting flooded with excitement and false hope. It was clear that the fans want to see this match-up.

What next for Conor McGregor and Charles Oliveira?

‘DoBronxs’ is still recovering from his defeat against Islam Makhachev at the UFC 280 event in the Etihad arena in Abu Dhabi. It remains to be seen who he will face next. Logically, Charles should face the winner of Dustin Poirier Vs Michael ‘Iron’ Chandler, but he has already faced both recently.

Mystic Mac still looked rusty during the altercation and suffered a horrible leg-breaking injury which has sidelined him for the better part of this year. Although he has recovered and looks bulked up and ripped, it still remains to be seen whom he will face and in which weight class.

Mystic Mac teasing possible opponents

It has been over a year since the poster boy of UFC last entered the octagon. Having suffered the gruesome injury last year, the Irishman took some time off for getting back in shape and recover. Since then, he has called out and teased about fighting multiple opponents.

In his post-fight interview at UFC 264, he was adamant that things between him and ‘El Diamante’ were far from settled. On the other hand, he was quick to call out Oliveira after he claimed the belt. However, it is still unclear which division McGregor will return at.
