The latest venture by UFC President Dana White, Power Slap, sparked a new debate regarding the safety of athletes. While the slapping competition brought a shorter form of thrilling action to the fans, the health concerns and support for the athletes also attained a center stage limelight. Similarly, another slapping competition, the RXF Slap Fighting tournament, became the latest hot topic in the combat sports world. Notably, a clip from the tournament went viral recently as one of the participants received a ferocious slap that disfigured his face. The clip, as expected, evoked the call for the cancellation of such competitions by UFC fighter Sodiq Yusuff and fans alike.

The slap competition star in question, Sorin Comsa, continued to take brutal blows from his opponent, Alexandru Gorczyca. While the left side of his face remained swollen and his cheek stained blood, the star displayed immense willpower. Despite suffering through the fight, the athlete left the Las Vegas Arena with the title of RXF Slap champion.

However, the grotesquely disfigured face of the RXF champion made the fans question the slap competitions and the recent traction they gained.

The featherweight fighter Sodiq Yusuff, 29, tweeted, “It got worse. Ain’t no way”

Replying in the comments, a fan wrote, “This so called sport needs to be banned before someone dies,Cant believe dana is behind this”

A user pointed out, “This is disgusting This should definitely not continue it’s not a sport it’s just ridiculous to stand there and get smashed is not a sport”

Similarly, another MMA fan addressed the possibility of the death of a participant and, in addition, called it ‘dangerous’.

Thus, they said, “It’ll be a matter of time before someone dies from this. Taking direct hits to the head like this is dangerous and you don’t need a doctor to tell you. All for money.”

Another user stated that it was hard to watch.

Arguing on the same note, an MMA fan declared that something was wrong with the sport.

Lastly, someone called the slapping competition the “dumbest sport“.

Significantly, the clip from the Romanian tournament that streamed on Monday on the promotion’s YouTube handle is nearing 1M views.
