UFC Hall of Famer BJ Penn last graced the Octagon in 2019. While the days of fighting in the cage may be over for the Hawaiian fighter, his fighting acumen still inspires fighters around the world. After devoting almost two decades to combat sports and putting his body on the line, ‘The Prodigy’ rightly has garnered a cult status among his admirers. Similarly, one of them, former UFC champion Charles Oliveira, recently reacted to one of the social media posts involving Penn. Further, the Brazilian fighter, who also recently disclosed his timeline for return, hailed the submission skills of the former multiple UFC division champion.

Notably, ‘Do Bronx’ replied to one of the tweets in which the former Jiu-Jitsu champion exhibited the skill of trapping the arm of his opponent.

Oliveira heaps of praise on the UFC legend BJ Penn

In the tweet, the fans could witness the 44-year-old fighter pulling off a submission after trapping the arm of his challenger significantly from a back mount position. Markedly, Penn recorded 7 submission wins in his MMA career, besides scoring 7 victories via knockouts. Thus, ending his career with a 16-14-2 record.

Oliviera, swayed by profound submission skills, replied, “BJ Penn! All respect”

Penn, who is considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in UFC history, dominated the 155-lbs division while he was active. Interestingly, the Sao Paulo fighter reigned supreme in the same division last year. However, Islam Makhachev took over the division when he defeated the Chute Boxe Diego Lima team product at UFC 280.
