On Christmas Eve, Joe Rogan took to social media to wish his followers a Merry Christmas. In his post, he shared a picture of a red and white mushroom. It is the Amanita muscaria, with the caption “Merry Christmas“. This also brings light to a conversation he had earlier with Neil deGrasse Tyson, where they bust Santa’s flying reindeer myth.
Joe Rogan is a known advocate of psychedelics and considers himself a psychedelic adventurer. Perhaps that is why he shared a picture of Amanita muscaria. It is also known as the fly agaric mushroom. Moreover, it is a species of mushroom native to the temperate and boreal regions of the Northern Hemisphere.

Rogan busts the Santa’s flying reindeer myth
As per the UFC commentator, the reason behind the flying reindeer myth is that they eat Amanita muscaria mushrooms; which are hallucinogenic in nature. He discusses this on his podcast with Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Rogan said, “They love those thing. They love amanita muscaria mushrooms to the point where, when people are doing mushroom ceremonies and they go outside to urinate. The Caribou will knock you over to get to your urine.“
In addition, he said that when male deer are in heat; they tend to chase the female deer to mate. This is when some of them run across roads, resulting in a collision. A lot of accidents are caused because of this, which results in the loss of property and life.
