According to a report by Gmbling.com, several UFC fighters are the victims of fake followers. Notably, the fake followers are not in the thousands, but in the millions.

What does the report reveal about Conor McGregor?

The report revealed that McGregor had a jaw-dropping 9.6 million followers on Twitter. Surprisingly, SparkToro’s fake follower audit helped to generate the report, and it further revealed that ‘Notorious’ carried an estimated 4,081,338 fake followers (42.3%).

The former UFC champion remained the most followed MMA fighter on Twitter. Also, the noted fighter built a reputation for calling out fighters on the platform. Similarly, ‘Mystic Mac’ didn’t shy to express hot takes on the recent developments in the UFC world and often got involved in heated exchanges.

In addition, the Dublin-born fighter made a habit of deleting tweets afterward controversial takes.

Other notable fighters and their shocking data

Going by absolute numbers, then the 34-year-old is followed by Anderson Silva (2,849,671), Jon Jones (1,092,496), Georges St-Pierre (871,548), Nate Diaz (820,040), and Khabib Nurmagomedov (756,021).

Lastly, Daniel Cormier (517,512), Israel Adesanya (489,443), Dustin Poirier (362,448), and Cody Garbrandt (176,366) follow the suit.

After sorting the list by the percentage of fake followers to real followers, former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt led the same at 48.8%. The list continued with ex-champion TJ Dillashaw at 48.1%, Conor McGregor at 42.3%, Georges St-Pierre at 41.5%, and Justin Gaethje at 40.9%.

Notably, the report abstained from making any claim regarding the bought followers.

When the billionaire Elon Musk bought Twitter on Oct. 2022 for $44 billion, the entrepreneur promised to clean the platform by removing spammy accounts and bots. While the cleaning drive is still pending, the resolve of ‘Chief Twit’ is to make the platform free.
