He pointed out that the legalized form of cheating should be prohibited. He gave an example of Kamaru Usman who never won 170 lbs and he had never been 170 Lbs for more than five minutes. According to the color commentator, he loses weight and then immediately rehydrates, and is huge compared to the other fighters. He had spoken about this to Andrew Huberman as well and he said that his position on weight cutting was that it was legalized cheating. He thought that when it came to weight cutting it was essentially the fact that a fighter was pretending to be lighter than what they are.

Weight cutting in UFC has always been a topic of concern for the organization and different athletic commissions. There have been several instances where fighters could not make the weight cut on time and had to withdraw from their fights at the last moment. If weight cutting is not properly monitored it can be disastrous for the health of an athlete and can even cause death. Rogan has previously even mentioned that ONE fighting championship has a much healthier weigh-in For athletes than UFC. Even Alex Pereira was accused by  Dana White and Joe Rogan in the past regarding this.

Alex Pereira vs Jiri Prochazka recently happened again in UFC 303 but they have fought before as well in UFC 295. Pereira’s weight-cutting prowess during the fight had drawn negative ideas from White and Rogan. The color commentator stated in his JRE podcast with Steve O that he believed that the massive weight cuts that Poatan did gave him an unfair advantage in the game.

He thought that Pereira stepped into the octagon for middleweight against Israel Adesanya above the 185 lbs limit after rehydrating. He stated, “And he has a hard time making 185. It’s a bull— thing. It’s sanctioned cheating. It is.”  Rogan had said that Pereira’s 185 cut was sanctioned cheating.
