Renato Moicano, who competes in the UFC lightweight division, had the shock of his life when he realized what Ryan Garcia had succeeded in doing. Garcia recently pulled off a major stunt that earned him $50 million. ‘King Ry’ gave up approximately $600,000 to Devin Haney on the weigh-in scale after missing by 3.2 lbs. But according to the fighter, he also earned $50 million in total from the fight. Meanwhile, a large amount of this income was generated from a $2 million bet that he placed on himself to win the fightThis also paid out a whopping $12 million to the 25-year-old.

Moicano was most definitely shocked by this and commented on it through his X profile. Let’s see what the underdog did and how the UFC world reacted to it.

The 34-year-old came onto his social media account and decided to talk about this incident. He wrote, So wait, Ryan Garcia bet $2 million on himself and earned $12 million just pretending he was drunk and high and going to Illuminati sh*t!? Modafu** is a true marketing genius!!! #mma #ufc #boxing.”

Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney had already started a drama even before the fight commenced. Ahead of their official weigh-ins, he may have revealed on his social media that Garcia had failed to succeed and pull up a weight of 140 lbs for their WBC super lightweight title. Haney had also taken jabs at his opponent for looking “fat” ahead of the fight.

‘King Ry’ had another trick on his sleeve where he agreed that if he did measure to be overweight during the official weigh-ins, he would happily pay 550K dollars for each pound that he went above the 140 lbs mark. This was a huge chance that the fighter was taking on himself.

However, just like Moicano mentioned, this was an intelligent marketing move from the fighter. His whole team, including his father, had suggested he not take this bet; however, Garcia was confident, and he came out victorious on the other side.

Ryan Garcia wins the bet

The 25-year-old was confident in his abilities, and he went ahead with the bet. Unfortunately, it backfired, and he weighed 3.2 pounds more than the 140-pound mark, and this was also confirmed by Haney on his X account. Garcia did pay 500K for each pound, according to his opponent.

During an interview with ESPN’s Mike Coppinger, Haney called his opponent a f**king clown.” He said, We’re here now. That’s all that matters,” he said. He also explained, The stuff he’s doing is not normal. It’s obvious that something is wrong with him. But what he does outside the ring does not matter. It won’t change what I’m going to do to him inside the ring.”

However, there was a huge plot twist because the antics that Garcia was showing outside the ring were nowhere to be seen when he stepped inside, and he gave his best shot and knocked down the lightweight champion three times.

This fighter scored the highest victory of his career, and he made a $12 million profit from a $2 million bet. The extra 3.2 pounds did serve as an advantage for the fighter. Do you think he was just having beginner’s luck, or did he calculate his prospects?
