‘Fight a Ranked Opponent First’- Adrian Yanez Not Happy with Sean O’Malley’s UFC Opponents

UFC bantamweight Adrian Yanez stole the show at UFC Vegas 43 with a Fight of the Night bonus winning showcase. He went to war against Davey Grant and emerged victorious via split decision on the judge’s scorecards. He has now earned four bonuses in his four UFC fights and is looking like a major contender in the bantamweight division.
After his fight, Yanez received a call-out from fellow rising contender Sean O’Malley on Twitter. ‘Sugar’ Sean kept it simple and was seemingly impressed by the handiwork shown by Yanez on fight night. Adrian Yanez spoke up about the call-out during his post-fight presser and had a few scathing words for Sean O’Malley.

Does Sean O’Malley dodge ranked opponents?
According to Yanez, Sean O’Malley makes an active effort to dodge opponents who could pose a significant threat to his rise in the game. Yanez feels as though O’Malley garners clout by calling out fighters like Petr Yan, but never actually follows through on his call-outs. Given his track record thus far, Adrian Yanez certainly poses a plausible argument.
“Something just rubs me the wrong way. Getting called out gets the testosterone out of me. Like ‘Oh, he wants to fight’. But honestly, Sean O’Malley does have skills but just the opponents that he’s been fighting, a lot of them, they could be a lot better.”

“He’s been saying he’s trying to get a ranked opponent. He’s over here calling out Petr Yan and all these guys so hey, fight a ranked opponent first. But if he is calling me out, it puts me in the same name as all those guys so I don’t care.”
Sean O’Malley is slated to face Raulian Paiva in December and he’ll want to continue his dream run in the UFC. With a win, he could look to face Adrian Yanez early next year and put to bed any budding beef they may have.
