Adesanya Vs Pereira, UFC 281’s main event was a very interesting. ‘Poatan’ had more significant strikes, which helped him bring down The Stylebender. He also had a higher strike success rate during the fight against Adesanya. Although both had 1 take-down, Adesanya attempted 4 compared to his opponent, who only attempted 1.

Adesanya had the majority of the fight under his control. He was in control for 6:34 mins while Alex only had 0:31 mins of the fight under control. Perhaps this is why the result came as a surprise for many people as Adesanya was so dominant. But Pereira did catch up in the last round, and by the looks of it, he had enough firepower in his fists to put Adesanya away.

Joe Rogan feels it was a good stoppage

Steve-O said it wasn’t a bad stoppage. Although at the same time, he recognized how Israel did not want the fight to stop at that moment. Adesanya’s coaches, later on, said that it was the right thing that the fight was stopped at that moment.

Joe replied, “Well I don’t think Pereira was going to stop. He had more time, Izzy was stationary and Pereira was going to hit him with some big shots. We don’t need to see Izzy with his eyes rolled back behind his head, flat-out unconscious.”

He continued, “I think it was a good stoppage.

Rogan hails referee Mark Goddard

Joe Rogan was full of praises for referee Mark Goddard. He explained how stopping the fight was a subjective call. Although he has seen some fights go on longer, he could understand why Goddard stopped this fight.

The UFC commentator said, “Mark Goddard is one of the very best in the world. He is top 2 or 3, he might be number 2.”

According to Rogan, Mark Goddard is only behind Herb Dean and 1 referee who wasn’t with the organization before, namely ‘Big John McCarthy’. Mark is in this elite list of referees in Rogan’s book and has made very few bad or questionable calls.

Do you think the fight was stopped at the right moment?
