Joe Rogan has welcomed Neil Young back to Spotify but not without taking a jab at the renowned musician! The Canadian-American singer/songwriter had announced that he would be taking his music off Spotify 2 years ago and pointed out Joe Rogan as the reason behind it. During episode no. 2119 of the JRE (Joe Rogan Experience), Rogan and his guest James Lindsey touched upon Young’s recent return to Spotify.
Rogan stated, “By the way, Neil Young came back to Spotify. Congratulations Neil. And his excuse was he said that because all of the platforms are now allowing my disinformation, so that he’ll just go back on Spotify too. Great to know you’ve got some ethics.”

His comments while congratulatory, provided a subtle jab at Young’s previous statements about Rogan being the reason behind his boycott of the platform due to the podcast host being allowed to spread “disinformation” on his show.
The return statement by Young, as shared on The JRE Companion Instagram page reads, “My decision comes as other music services, Apple, Amazon, Qobuz, Tidal, have started serving the same disinformation podcast I had opposed at Spotify. Because I cannot leave all those services like I did Spotify, because my music would have no streaming outlet to music lovers at all, I have returned.”
However, the comment sections for the post indicated that the online community isn’t impressed with his return and many even questioned his “integrity” with coming back to Spotify. Let’s take a look at what they had to say!
Neil Young slammed by the fans for ending his Joe Rogan-triggered boycott

Others took humorous shots at the situation by referencing the anti-establishment sentiments by the band ‘Rage Against the Machine’ and how Young seems to have gone against the message in their song, ‘Killing in the Name’:
“Neil Young should cut a record with Rage Against The Machine. Call it, And Now We Did What They Told Us”
Some even pointed out that according to Young’s prior statements, he should be boycotting all streaming platforms to maintain his stance:
“By his own standard shouldn’t he have pulled his music off all the streaming sites!!!???”
The comments also indicated the fan’s opinion that Young is not popular anymore and cannot generate enough revenue solely from the sales of physical media:
“Neil realized no one buys his albums or CDs anymore and he’s running out of money”
Others took more shots at Young and the perceived age of his devoted fan base and their dwindling numbers:
“Neil needs to be on every platform to be able to reach all 17 of his fans. He’s lost a lot of his support as his fans dipped to more cutting edge content like Murder She Wrote marathons, etc.”
