Amid the flurry of punches and a high-voltage fight between Jalin Turner and Renato Moicano, it was Herb Dean‘s action that stirred headlines at UFC 300. The veteran referee failed to jump in time as Turner caught his Brazilian opponent with a one-two and his left dropped Moicano on the canvas.

While Turner walked away, believing he had finished the fight, Moicano got up after the fight was not called off as Tuner had expected. The action resumed and took a different turn in the subsequent round. However, Turner was not the only person to be left flabbergasted at Dean’s non-stoppage of the fight.

UFC star Derrick Lewis also vented frustration as he turned to his X handle. The heavyweight fighter believed it was Dean’s “fault.” He wrote, “Herb Dean fault @ufc #ufc300.”

This action took place in the very first round and left Tuner infuriated. Then, Moicano would stage an impressive comeback and fall back to his strong ground game. While the American fighter struggled to get back on his feet, Moicano was relentless and dominant in his grappling game. He would finish the fight with devastating ground-and-pound and hand a beatdown to Turner.

A KO win also ensured Moicano left the T-Mobile Arena with a $300,000 bonus, adding more to Turner’s misery. What’s more? ‘Money’ demanded respect for his performance in his post-fight interview.

Notably, Moicano improved his record to 19-5-1 and is now on a three-win streak. Meanwhile, Turner failed to sustain his winning ways as he registered his third loss in the last four fights and now holds a record of 14-8. While most of Turner’s losses came against notable names such as Dan Hooker and Mateusz Gamrot, it will be Dean’s call that will sting the most.
