However, Jones, who is injured and out for the first half of 2024, seems to have recovered from his elbow surgery and is eager to return to the octagon. The 36-year-old took to Twitter (now X) and reflected on his journey, along with some sage advice for the young fighters.

Jon Jones was scheduled to face former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic in a legacy-defining fight at UFC 295 last November. However, a torn pec forced him to pull out and the bout was postponed, with the UFC replacing it with Tom Aspinall vs. Sergei Pavlovich.

And the time off seems to have put Jones in a reflective mood. The champion took to Twitter and looked back on his younger days, ruing his immaturity and rashness and comparing it with today, when he is the heavyweight champion and has a great relationship with the promotion.

The guys said they just wanted to give me the option. We both knew I wouldn’t be ready. My relationship with UFC is better now than it’s ever been,” he tweeted.

Jones is expected to fight Miocic and then retire if he wins, which he probably will. Miocic has fought only once in the last four years. It would be a mistake, however, to discount Miocic.
