Jon Jones may be the greatest mixed martial artist in the history of the sport. His excellence in the octagon is rivaled only by his ability to get in trouble. The undisputed heavyweight champion has been arrested five times over the past eight years, including for domestic violence, DUI, hit-and-run, and a negligent use of a firearm charge.
However, Jones, who is injured and out for the first half of 2024, seems to have recovered from his elbow surgery and is eager to return to the octagon. The 36-year-old took to Twitter (now X) and reflected on his journey, along with some sage advice for the young fighters.

Jon Jones was scheduled to face former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic in a legacy-defining fight at UFC 295 last November. However, a torn pec forced him to pull out and the bout was postponed, with the UFC replacing it with Tom Aspinall vs. Sergei Pavlovich.
And the time off seems to have put Jones in a reflective mood. The champion took to Twitter and looked back on his younger days, ruing his immaturity and rashness and comparing it with today, when he is the heavyweight champion and has a great relationship with the promotion.

In addition, ‘Bones’ also felt that he was probably the highest-paid athlete on the UFC roster. While the earnings of fighters are not disclosed, most sources agree that Conor McGregor is the highest-paid athlete in the promotion, but Jones may be second after him.

Jon Jones revealed in a tweet that he had been approached by the UFC for a possible fight at UFC 300. However, given his injury, he had to turn it down. Interestingly, he talked about how good his relationship is with the UFC in this tweet, too. “I was actually called and offered to fight on the event. The guys said they just wanted to give me the option. We both knew I wouldn’t be ready. My relationship with UFC is better now than it’s ever been,” he tweeted.

The former heavyweight champion is among the greatest fighters in UFC history and is considered one of the best heavyweights.
