“I Am Gonna Go out the Other Way” – Even After Getting Ambushed in Bathroom, Joe Rogan Was Forced To Avoid Bully Throughout School

Joe Rogan is one of the most famous faces in the entire US. The UFC’s color commentator is currently on an over-a-decade-long tenure with the company. Rogan is also a seasoned comedian, a former TV host, and one of the most familiar podcasters in the country.

His podcast ‘The Joe Rogan Experience‘ has been adjudged the ‘Top Podcast’ multiple times by Spotify. On an episode of JRE, Rogan was joined by the noted stand-up comic, actor, and host of the podcast ‘You Know What Dude!’, ‘Robert Kelly’.

Along with a variety of other stuff, Rogan also discussed the incident, which got him into wrestling. Kelly instigated this topic of fighting, mentioning he had multiple fights on the streets. He stated that he had got thrashed numerous times as well.

Joe Rogan avoided street fights

Rogan presented his experience of street fights saying, “I didn’t get much fights in life”. He also said, “I avoided that”. Looking at Joe Rogan’s reputation today, it’s hard to imagine that he used to avoid fights.

Describing the reason behind this, Rogan stated, “Because I was fighting from the time I was 15. By the time I was 21, I was traveling around the country fighting in martial arts tournaments.” He also reiterated, “So, I never got into street fights.”

Joe Rogan started training in martial arts when he was 15 years of age. His regular practice schedule already subjected him to lots of fighting and training. It’s understandable that Rogan was left with little desire to pick out fights in the streets.

However, Rogan also stated that he had a couple of heated scuffles while he was at high school, and one of them changed his life entirely.

A  37-year-old incident caused Rogan to join martial arts

Rogan started off by narrating his untoward experience of a brawl in high school. The former ‘Fear Factor’ host also mentioned he felt helpless, “That’s when I started wrestling. I was like f**k I gotta learn how to wrestle. I remember like I was so lucky that this guy didn’t beat my face into a pulp.

Rogan described his own thoughts at that point, stating, “I dont know how to wrestle. He got in my face and I didn’t know what to do. I remember I was just confused.” The ‘JRE host’ once more iterated about how his adversary was about to punch him, but finally showed mercy on him.

Then I remember avoiding him around the school. I was like, where is he, I am gonna go out the other way.

This incident also tormented Rogan for quite some time. As a result, Rogan learned how to defend himself.
