The color commentator of the UFC, Joe Rogan, is undoubtedly one of the most famed personalities in the organization. Rogan is also a seasoned comedian and an ex-TV presenter. Further, stepping into the UFC has only helped his fame grow. His podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, has bagged the apex spot on Spotify’s ‘Top Podcasts’ list multiple times. Noted comedians and podcasters, Ari Shaffir, Tom Segura, and Bert Kreischer joined Rogan in one such episode of the ‘JRE’.

Tom Segura started things off with sleep as he explained how the thing he “struggled with most” was “sleep”. He also explained that, apart from adjusting his workout routine and eating habits, thinking about getting ‘good sleep’ is what bothers him the most.

Rogan tried to suggest some measures to fix Segura’s issues as he said, Have you ever tried that aid-sleep mattress that cool you off?” Tom had no idea anything like that existed, as he replied, “No”. Rogan then added, “Everyone that uses it says it’s a Fu**ing Game Changer”.

Shaffir also tried to suggest methods to help Tom as he said, “Don’t look at your phone for an hour and a half before you go to sleep.”, but Rogan contradicted Sahffir saying, “I look at phone right before I go to sleep and I sleep like a brick.”

Kreischer added, “I listen to podcasts before I go to sleep”.

Rogan went on to describe how his wife’s sleep pattern contradicted his sleeping habits. He stated, “My wife has a hard time sleeping”. He also described, “It drives her crazy that I could fall asleep on the dirt”. It was apparent that Rogan was quite a ‘sleep-friendly’ person, while his wife was not.

Giving a measure of his ‘sleep-friendliness’ Rogan also stated, “I can just lay down on the ground and…” he then ended up emitting a strong snoring sound depicting the way he snores.

Seems like everybody in this world has their own share of troubles. Managing to fall asleep anywhere is quite a blessing in today’s world of ‘Insomnia’. But, as per Rogan’s words, his blessing often turns into a curse since no one wants to have an argument with his wife just about falling asleep.

What is your level of sleep-friendliness? Can you compete with Rogan if it comes to falling asleep?

The coveted scrap between Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson in 2002 was when I realized the passion for combat sports within my family. My interest in combat sports began watching scripted pro wrestling shows. It was my father who directed me towards combat sports and it wasn’t until the late 2010s that I discovered the world of MMA and the UFC. Like many of you, I too, tuned in for the infamous Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor bout live on October 6, 2018. Being an ardent fan of the UFC (and Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier), I was always looking to have conversations about the same with others. But to my disappointment, I hardly found any followers of the sports to interact with. So I took it upon myself to do my part in popularizing the thrill and the agony behind the purest form of unarmed combat. At EssentiallySports, I try to bring the readers closer to the athletes and focus my coverage on exploring the human side of these martial artists. I’m a musician during my time free from reporting MMA. I operate as the lead vocalist of a rock band that aims to make their mark among the audiences with their original alternative-hard rock songs.
