Dustin Poirier gave a good fight to Islam Makhachev with his D’Arce choke but fell short in the last few minutes of the fight. The Dagestani won the UFC 302 fight and the lightweight champ asked Joe Rogan if he would like to fight welterweight champ Leon Edwards for the 170-pound category. Now the reason was very weird and it was related to winning a title for the first time.

However, in the press conference, Dana White had a completely different answer just now after the reporter asked him about the same thing.

Dana White does not know about the Islam Makhachev and Leon Edwards fight

During the UFC 302 presser, a reporter asked the UFC head honcho about this request that Makhachev seemed to have made to the color commentator. He asked about the 170-pound possible fight between the duo and asked if there was any possibility that it was going to happen.

Dana White said, “I don’t know. I mean, he hasn’t said anything like that to us. So we’ll see.” So clearly, White is still keeping it in the shadows while Makhahcev is ready to fight. Makhachev is clearly ready to get the double champion status like Conor McGregor and even told Joe Rogan about it after winning his bout against Poirier.

He has already made Khabib Nurmagomedov proud and now wants to make him prouder. However, these plans might take some time to come to fruition as per Dana White’s claims.

Dana White has no plans to meet Islam Makhachev’s demands

Dana White previously refused to meet his demands during UFC 300. Makhachev had wanted to fight Leon Edwards for the 170-pound fight but the UFC CEO was not keen on that fight a all. As reported by the ‘Young ‘n’ Faded MMA Society‘, they quoted Makahchev saying, Islam told them that he wants to move up and fight the champion Leon Edwards, but Dana White was not in favor of this and that down the option.”

The Dagestani even told Joe Rogan after UFC 302 that he wants to fight Edwards and said, ““Its my dream, I want to fight for the second belt. I want to feel that energy again. Because when you defend your belt, its not same.” Now everyone again expects the UFC CEO to answer as soon as possible about this fight.

Will Dana White approve of this bout and will Makahchev be a double title holder?
