Dustin Poirier will face the hardest test of his life when he battles Conor McGregor at UFC 264. This is the biggest fight of Poirier’s career, as a lot is on the line for both the fighters. The trilogy fight has even become larger than a title fight after the rematch at UFC 257 became the second most successful event in the promotion history. This fight with McGregor has the potential to end up as the most successful PPV event for the UFC.
‘The Diamond’ fought his first professional fight in 2009. Now in his 22 years’ ongoing mixed martial arts journey, a lot has changed for Poirier. Now he is a family man and competes to provide for his wife and daughter. After becoming a father, his purpose of fighting has changed from when he first started.
In a UFC countdown interview, ‘The Diamond’ shared some inside stories about how his reasons for fighting have changed after becoming a father. Dustin Poirier said, “As you grow through life as a professional fighter, the reason you fight changes. My daughter- I want to have her a great life. I want her college to be paid for. I want her not to worry about things, I want to put her in the best position I can.”

Poirier continued, “That’s why I fight. Not only my daughter but my wife is an anchor for sure for me. I don’t think I would be as successful as I am business-wise or fight-wise. If she wasn’t in my life at such a young age. And I just realize that how much they mean to me and how happy I am when they are around. I need my girls, man.”
Dustin Poirier and his family
Jolie Poirier, born on March 4, 1989, married to ‘The Diamond’ back in September 2009. The couple dated each other since they were teenager.
