Ronda Rousey is arguably one of the greatest fighters in UFC history. She is a pioneer of the sport who helped attract a lot of attention to it. The Rowdy One is a fan favorite as well because of her bold attitude and ability to speak her mind. Let us look back at when she shut down a reporter during a press conference.
Back in 2015, ahead of her fight against Holly Holm, Rousey appeared in the pre-fight press conference. During the conference, one reporter asked Rousey what she felt about gender pay in sports, specifically about ‘The Matildas’ – the Australian women’s national soccer team.

The fans booed this reporter and called her a “feminist,” not as a compliment. Rousey’s answer was shocking as she added fuel to the fire. The answer did not sit well as many have addressed and have been trying to fix this problem, but Rousey’s answer was far away from providing help.
Rousey said, “I think that how much you get paid should have something to do with how much money you bring in. I’m the highest-paid fighter, not because Dana and Lorenzo wanted to do something nice to the ladies.” She then explained why she was the “highest-paid fighter.”
She added, “They do it because I bring in the highest numbers. They do it because I make them the most money. And I think that the money that they make should be proportionate to the money that they bring in.” This bold answer shocked many fans and she was met with hate on the internet.
