“I Was Just Blown Away”- UFC Champ Alexander Volkanovski Spills the Beans on “UFC” Conversation With Chris Hemsworth

UFC has come a long way since its inception and currently boasts of being the biggest MMA brand in the world. Those numbers also translate to its popularity as evidenced by the ascendance of Conor McGregor as a global superstar. Similarly, the promotion has made inroads in almost every part of the world. The rage of UFC has even gripped Hollywood and most notably has a fan in actor Chris Hemsworth, as revealed by UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski.

The featherweight champion recalls the incident when he first encountered his compatriot. The ‘Extraction’ star took ‘The Great’ by surprise with his grasp on UFC when he made acquaintance with him in a chance encounter. Not only did the 34-year-old have a pleasant talk with Marvel’s Thor but he also ended up befriending the actor.

The flyweight kingpin, who faces an unorthodox and innovative challenger in Yair Rodriguez at UFC 290, reminisced about his first meeting with the Hollywood actor as he sat down with Logan Paul on Impaulsive.

When asked about the experience, he informed the internet star it was unreal and funny. The Australian fighter was in the stands to watch Israel Adesanya fight Anderson Silva. The 39-year-old actor also registered his presence there and when crossed paths with the fighter, expressed he hoped the fighter was on the card too.

The 25-2 record holder said, “It is unreal. It was funny because I went and watched, I think it was Izzy and it must have been Anderson Silva. He [Chris] was there and he was watching. So I ended up jumping in a van and this was, I think before I even got the belt, and he’s walking past and then I’m like, ‘Oh look, how good’s that?'”

“And he sees me. He comes, he goes, ‘Oh, I was hoping you’d be on the card’. And I was like ‘what the f*ck’, you know, what I mean,” he added later.

Lastly, the Wollongong native admitted the interaction blew him away and Hemsworth was a “big fan” of UFC.

He stated, “I was just blown away. But he’s a big fan of the UFC. I’ve caught up with him a couple of times and he’s always takes the time to say hello and he’s a solid dude.”

The Elder of Paul-brothers, Logan, theorized if Hemsworth wasn’t that good-looking and a good actor, he could have a career in UFC.
