‘If He Starts Spinning I Might Start Spinning as Well’- Beneil Dariush on Tony Ferguson’s Weird Techniques

Beneil Dariush returns to action next month at UFC 262 against Tony Ferguson. This is no doubt the biggest fight of Dariush’s career, given the stature of his opponent. ‘El Cucuy’ is one of the biggest names in the history of the UFC’s lightweight division. His fighting style, too, is unique and unpredictable.
Dariush acknowledges this and vows to be prepared accordingly. Ferguson is a wild and unorthodox fighter. He never fails to bring an element of surprise. Rather than sticking to a certain plan, Ferguson creates chaos inside the Octagon and thrives on it. Dariush is looking to enjoy that feeling when steps across the cage against the former interim lightweight champion.

“I don’t really have a game plan for that because it’s unpredictable. The idea of trying to predict someone who is unpredictable, I think it’s just stressful. What I wanna do is kind of enjoy that ride. When he gets unpredictable, he gets funky, he tries that stuff.
The goal is not to get stressed out and like alright, let’s just enjoy it and see what we can do with it. That’s my goal with it. I don’t know if that’s gonna happen, but that’s my goal with it,” said Dariush.
“And you know when people get creative, it helps me get creative as well. So, I might try different things as well, I don’t know, we’ll see. I think I’ve thrown one spinning back fist in my whole career. If he starts spinning, I might start spinning as well. Who knows?”

Both Dariush and Ferguson possess unique skill sets. They are very creative and have the ability to hang on wherever the fight takes place. Also, both guys seem to embrace violence in a fight.
Ferguson is looking to revamp his career by ending his 2-fight streak. The recent setback might just bring out the best version of ‘El Cucuy‘ at UFC 262. Dariush knows what he is up against. And a win will be massive for him. But he might have to fight a perfect fight to get that against Ferguson, who will be back with a vengeance.
