In June 2022, Heard was found guilty of defaming Johnny Depp by the jury in Virginia. Initially, the jury announced that Heard had to pay $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. However, the punitive damages were then reduced to $350,000. The actress was also awarded $2 million dollars in partial liabilities. Finally, the amount that Heard owed Depp came to around $8.35 million USD. Although the actress had a net worth of $2.5 million before the trials, she has gone into a debt of $6 million dollars. Her net worth came down to -$6 million dollars.
