The Joe Rogan Experience podcast or JRE will no longer be exclusive to Spotify. The UFC color commentator and comedian had signed a landmark deal in 2020 which saw him take his highly popular podcast to Spotify exclusively in a staggering $200 million deal! The new contract marks a change in Spotify’s strategy to expand the show’s reach beyond users on their platform.

And so, fans of the show can rest assured that their favorite podcast and host will continue the show but with a broader reach than was available in the previous contract! Joe Rogan also clarified the terms of the deal in a recent statement, laying to ease the concerns and rumors surrounding the new $250 million contract with Spotify!

The Wall Street Journal initially reported the $250 million extension with Joe Rogan, emphasizing Spotify’s decision to broaden distribution rights. As part of the deal, Spotify will oversee distribution and advertising sales for the podcast, ensuring Rogan receives a guaranteed minimum fee and a share of ad revenue.

Since making his move to Spotify in 2020, the JRE has consistently demonstrated its popularity on the platform. According to a survey conducted by Edison Research in Q3 2023, the podcast ranked second among women aged 13 and older in the US, highlighting the broad appeal of the show.

Therefore, when fans were concerned about the new deal impacting the show’s availability and Rogan’s stay on Spotify, he shared an update on social media stating, “The podcast is now officially back on @apple We should be back on @youtube with full episodes in the coming weeks. Shoutout to @spotify for absolutely being the coolest and smartest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of being in partnership with. I’m very excited the podcast will now have a much broader distribution.”

The news of the JRE no longer being exclusive despite the latest $250 million contract, has sparked various reactions, including from Sean O’Malley, who is a staunch Rogan fan!

The bantamweight champion, who has also appeared on Rogan’s podcast before, was told about the terms of the deal by his friend and coach, Tim Welch, on their podcast, ‘TimboSugarShow’. O’Malley, stunned at the news, exclaimed, “That is insane. That is insane if they are paying him that much and it is not going to be exclusive.

Welch shared O’Malley’s astonishment, describing the deal as “truly God podcasting.” O’Malley chimed in, echoing Welch’s sentiment, calling the deal “f*cking Gangster.The responses from O’Malley and Welch underscore the significance of Rogan’s influence in the podcasting world and the impact of Spotify’s decision to broaden the show’s distribution!
