UFC commentator Joe Rogan had a peculiar sighting when he first moved to Los Angeles. The famed podcaster, who shifted multiple bases while growing up, shifted to the city in 1994. Since Rogan was always on the move, pursuing his different careers, there were only a few things that escaped his keen eyes. However, the color commentator couldn’t believe his eyes when he spotted two coyotes on a bustling street in Los Angeles.

The 55-year-old took some time to make sense of the unlikely spotting of the animals that captured his fascination but definitely had heard of. Notably, Rogan reminisced about this incident when he sat down with Dan Flores, a writer, and historian who specializes in cultural and environmental studies, on his popular podcast. Significantly, Flores penned a book titled ‘Coyote America’ and therefore a curious Rogan steered the conversation around coyotes.

He said, “The first time I saw one, it was 1994, and I was, they had these pre-furnished apartments like I got one when I moved to LA. And it was in Burbank. I mean, it was in the middle of everything, where The Tonight Show films.”

One fateful day, while driving away, he spotted two small wolves. Perplexed by the presence, the UFC personnel took some time to identify the animals as coyotes.

Afterward, Flores informed Rogan that coyotes had always occupied the parameters of the city, and their history dated back to at least a couple of centuries back.
