Cris Lencioni takes his first step forward in the biggest fight of his life. ‘Sunshine’ is undergoing recovery after he suffered a cardiac arrest while training at a gym in Spokane, Wash. He was soon hospitalized and spent a sizeable time in the ICU, battling a fight he never saw coming. His family had to resort to GoFundMe to gather funds to support him during this difficult time. While the Bellator fighter was out of intensive care a couple of days back, the path to recovery remained uncertain. But, finally, a glimmer of hope has dawned with his latest health update.

The UFC veteran Chael Sonnen recounted how the series of unfortunate events unfolded that resulted in him laying unconscious. Further, he expressed his gratefulness for the aid that Bellator MMA and ABC President chipped in. The wishes and the support of well-wishers have been working as the 28-year-old is steadily fighting his way out of this painful battle of life.

In a recently posted video by MMA Fighting, the featherweight fighter is seen working with medical experts to gauge his response to the stimuli. While he is responding well to the stimuli, the 11-3 record holder is still in a state of disordered consciousness, despite being awake and responsive.
