Conor McGregor is an Irish UFC legend. “The Notorious” is a former featherweight and lightweight division champion. The 34-year-old for now, has taken a break from the Octagon after his infamous leg injury.

Conor McGregor is without a doubt one of the greatest fighters that ever stepped inside the octagon. The 169 lbs fighter also, has had a penchant for being active on social media, throughout his career. As a throwback, today we look at one of his memorable Instagram uploads, in which he captures an iconic moment.
In a picture posted by the Irish superstar, he wrote the caption “It’s not for me. It’s for me ma.”

The caption is from the British movie “Snatch” directed by Guy Ritchie with Brad Pitt in a supporting role. The smash-hit film also stars Jason Statham, Vinnie Jones, and Benicio Del Toro among an ensemble cast of big actors.

Brad Pitt’s role stands out in the movie, as he plays “Mickey O’Neil” whom his friends and family affectionately call “Irish”. The actor portrays a young lad among a group of nomads from Ireland called “The White Gypsies”.
In the film, Mickey happens to be of a lean frame but hits like a truck in the boxing ring. He is shown to knock out his enemies with a single punch, no matter their size.

Mickey shares a lot of similarities with the UFC fighter starting from his accent to his mean punches. Altogether these factors do resonate with the former double-division champion quite well.
Also worth pointing out, is the iconic dialogue “It’s not for me. It’s for me ma.” that McGregor used as a caption. It shows how affectionate the fighters are towards their mother and all the sweat they are breaking, is ultimately for their ma’s.
