

The American podcast host Joe Rogan is known to host very interesting figures on his podcast. This has garnered a huge audience for his podcast. Due to this, he needs to fact-check every dramatic statement. Moreover, he made an astonishing statement during his recent podcast with Siddharth Kara. Kara is a Harvard visiting professor and modern slavery activist. In addition, he is the author of ‘Cobalt Red: How The Blood of The Congo Powers Our Lives’. During the podcast, Kara told Rogan that there is no such thing as “clean cobalt” and that the suffering of the Congolese people working in cobalt mines was quite surprising.

The Harvard visiting professor exposes the “appalling” cobalt mining industry in the Congo on the podcast. Furthermore, after hearing all this Rogan comes to the conclusion that it is ‘one of the heaviest podcasts’ that he has done. In addition, this podcast has since gone viral and racked up over a million views.

Joe Rogan is thankful for Kara’s bravery
Rogan expressed his appreciation for Kara’s bravery in exposing the issue and his efforts to bring attention to the issue of modern slavery in the cobalt mining industry.
Listening to Kara’s revelations Rogan said, “This is probably the heaviest podcast I’ve ever done”
To which Kara replied, saying, “I’m so sorry Joe”
The former fear factor host later said, “Listen, don’t apologize. Thank you, thank you very much, and thank you for your bravery and what you’ve done in exposing this and in going there.”

“It’s, It’s very hard to accept. But I think that this information this is the first step.” He further added. He acknowledged the importance of this information and the need to take action to address the issue.
Kara shares the importance of the platform Rogan provides
Kara expressed his appreciation for being invited to the podcast, saying that it meant the world to him. Because sharing the stage with the UFC commentator amplifies the story and the voices of the people affected by the cobalt mining industry.

He said, “Because you amplify this story and their truth and their voices. To the point where maybe some good can actually start to happen. And if that’s the outcome and then, you know, we have spent a preciously valuable couple hours together.“
Furthermore, he mentions that he has nightmares about the people he has seen in the mines and that he hopes the podcast will help bring attention to the issue and bring about change.
