Alexander Volkanovski will defend his title against Brian Ortega next. Earlier, the UFC booked the two men for UFC 260. However, that fight had to be canceled because of COVID-19 rules. Subsequently, the UFC roped in the duo as the coaches of The Ultimate Fighter 29.
Now, two months after the original cancelation, it seems like there is a new date for the fight. Volkanovski, who appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast, said that they will probably fight in September. The pay-per-view card scheduled for September is UFC 266. The light-heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz will defend his belt against Glover Teixeira on the same card.
Now with Volkanovski vs Ortega possibly added to the card, the pay-per-view already looks like a must-see for the fans.

Ortega defeated ‘The Korean Zombie’ in his last fight. It was a phenomenal performance from ‘T-City’ as he completely pieced up Jung on the feet, showcasing his rejuvenated striking game.
Volkanovski, on the other hand, defended his belt against former champion, Max Holloway, at UFC 251 with a debatable split decision win. With Ortega looking like a refreshed version of himself, and Volkanovski being on a tear since joining the UFC, the fight promises to be a barn-burner for the fans.

Ortega is a master of the ground game. But over the course of his UFC career, he has mastered the art of striking too. Although his loss to Holloway was brutal, one can argue ‘Blessed’ does that to even the best strikers. ‘T-City‘ showed his full arsenal of the stand-up game in his last fight.
But Volkanovski, who is a beast of a fighter, can hang in there with anybody, both on the feet and on the ground. It will be a tough task for anybody to beat a fighter as dominant as him. Nevertheless, with the date seemingly scheduled, fans can only hope that the fight doesn’t get canceled yet again.
