Joe Rogan’s massive success as the host of one of the biggest podcasts in the world has seen him evolve from a TV personality into an extremely influential figure. The Joe Rogan Experience undoubtedly stands among the biggest platforms available in the podcasting realm currently. But how many of us know the origin stories of JRE? How did the podcast and Rogan himself turn into the massive success that it is right now?
The 55-year-old gave a small glimpse into this aspect of his journey during his latest episode when he sat down with Shane Gillis. Talking about how he bagged his first sponsor, Rogan also discloses the eventual turn of events that saw him become a part of a multimillion dollars worth supplement company.

Sponsorships play a crucial role in any endeavor, be it financial or a podcast like Rogan’s. And for the former Fear Factor host, it was a pretty weird sponsorship that he had first received from Aubrey Marcus that got the ball rolling, as he recalls.
Talking to Gillis, he went down memory lane to reveal how it all went down.

“He[Marcus] reached out and said, ‘you guys wanna have a sponsor on your podcast?’ We didn’t have any sponsors. The podcast, in the beginning, the idea that this is a big business is so hilarious. Because in the beginning, it was just so ridiculous. Like how it was run. We just f****d around.” claimed Rogan.
But it was the sponsorship deal that got the stand-up comedian reeling in laughter. “…he was the first guy that said, hey you guys should have a sponsor. So he had a meeting with us and he told us about the fleshlight. And I’m like that’s hilarious.”
Well, despite the unique offering for the sponsorship, it definitely turned out to be a great deal for all parties involved.
How Rogan got involved in a multi-million dollar company through supplements
But what was next surely turned out to be the icing on the cake for Rogan. Owing to his relationship with Marcus, the duo ventured into the supplement industry, which led to the creation of Onnit.
“So that was our first sponsor and then Aubrey and I started talking about doing other stuff, and he said ‘if you were into supplements what are you into.?’I told him that I really got into nootropics.” He said.

This collaboration paid off as Onnit went on to turn into a huge supplement brand worth 28 million dollars.
