Joe Rogan, the UFC’s color commentator, is inarguably one of the most noted faces in the company. The comedian and former TV host is currently in an ‘over-a-decade’ long tenure with the UFC. His multi-directional works in TV hosting, stand-up comedy, and commentary have gained him immense popularity.

Rogan also hosts his own podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, which is a Spotify exclusive. Rogan’s popularity also helped ‘JRE’ to achieve the apex spot in the ‘Top Podcasts’ list of Spotify multiple times. Some of the most noted faces of the current times like ‘Elon Musk’, ‘Mark Zuckerberg’ and a variety of other celebrities have joined Rogan as guests for episodes of ‘JRE’.

On one such episode of ‘JRE’, Rogan was joined by the lead vocalist and one of the founding members of ‘The Red hot Chili Peppers, Anthony Kiedis. The duo went on to discuss a variety of stuff, along with Rogan’s very first hunting experience.

Rogan had two options: go vegan or go hunting

Rogan stated that he wasn’t at all a fan of “factory farming” animals for meat, which got him into hunting. Talking about his hunting desires Rogan stated, “Alligator hunt is in Florida this year.”

Rogan also described how he “was going to become a vegan or was gonna become a hunter.” He said, “Those were my two paths.” Kiedis stated, “You should be able to kill the animal.”

The former ‘Fear factor’ host described his first hunting experience as he said, “My friend ‘Steven Rinella’ from the show ‘MeatEater’, he actually took me hunting and I shot that deer right there, that’s the first animal I ever shot.”

Rogan stated that his first hunt was a “mule deer”. He also pointed towards the skull of his first hunt, saying, “That skull on the table, that’s a mule deer”.

The mule-deer-skull still adorns one end of the hosting table of ‘JRE’.

Rogan also stated, “We shot that, I ate it and I was like ok, that makes sense”. ‘The JRE host’ was definitely a fan of fresh meat.

Joe Rogan found this experience difficult to attain

The UFC commentator went on to describe his experience with hunting. He said, “The experience is difficult to attain. You have to work really hard for it. You’re hiking in the mountains. You’ve to play with the wind. You have to be smart, you know, there’s a lot going on.”

However, Rogan was also pleased to share about the reward of his first hunt as he said, “the reward for that is yeah a mule deer.” He also stated, “that was like a 250lbs animal. I’m eating that for a couple of months.”

After hearing it all, Kiedis quoted, “I wish I had it in me to come face to face with the creature that I’m eating that I’m taking. I just haven’t found it yet.” Kiedis was definitely appreciative of Rogan’s courage.
