UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is arguably one of the greatest fighters of all time. The fact that he stands first in the UFC men’s pound for pound rankings only adds to this argument.

The fighter certainly does justice to his moniker, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare,’ and is definitely a nightmare for any welterweight opponent, especially Colby Covington. Kamaru Usman has taken on ‘Chaos’ twice and has beaten him both times. To date, he continues to be Usman’s biggest rival.

In his last bout against ‘Chaos’, Usman suffered an arm injury which has kept him sidelined from training and fighting. In a recent interview, Usman revealed that he uses a device that restricts movement in his arm to help him heal quicker.

‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ said,” I’m moving it well but there’s limits to it. So right here I kind of have this device here to stop me from extending it too much. Because I did have the tendon repaired, what, almost two weeks now? And so I don’t want to go too fast and re-injure it. So this is keeping it there and then I’m gonna start physical therapy this week… hopefully get back to what I like to do.”

Usman received surgery for his injured hand after his bout against Covington. Even though he walked away with the injury, he absolutely dominated Colby for the majority of the bout. His bout against Covington at UFC 268 marked his fifth successful title defense.

Edwards is currently on a nine-fight win streak and has overcome some of the top rankings, in the welterweight division. Edwards has already fought Usman once in 2015 and lost via decision. However, ever since then, both fighters have come a long way.
