Besides featuring a championship title and exciting action for the fans, the last numbered event of the year 2022, UFC 282: Blachowicz vs. Ankalaev offered Darren Till an opportunity to return to the win column. Notably, the British fighter entered Las Vegas’s T-Mobile Arena on Dec 10 with the intention of putting an end to the rough patch in his MMA career. However, the South African fighter, Dricus Du Plessis, stood in his way in their fateful main card middleweight fight.

Notably, both fighters engaged in a back-and-forth fight where Du Plessis handed the #10 ranked fighter another loss. Hence, the South African scored a victory via a rear-naked choke in the final round.

What happened in the fight at UFC 282?

The high stakes 185 lbs fight started with ‘The Gorilla’ putting on the pressure. However, ‘Stilknocks’ brought his ground game right away in the fight and successfully attempted a takedown. And further hammered Till with voluminous and non-stop punches. However, the Brit
didn’t offer any resistance and looked on the edge as Du Plessis was all over the place with his punches.

Later on, Plesis successfully completed another takedown and absorbed a substantial amount of damage. Therefore, it looked like the referee Mark Smith looked would stop the fight anytime.

Subsequently, after spending a large time of the round on the mat, the 29-year-old fighter reversed the takedown and did substantial damage to salvage some points.

In round 2, a drained Till threw hands but lacked power in punches. The slow movements and punches affected the fighter’s chances. However, the grappling skills of the South African fighter again proved troublesome, which were employed as defensive tools as well. Afterward, in the closing seconds of the round, the Team Kaobon representative was saved by the bell.

However, Till’s luck eventually ran out in round 3 as the 28-year-old fighter again transitioned the bout into ground hammering of the British fighter. However, this time Till, at 18-5-1 gave up his back and ultimately tapped out. Thus extending his recent miserable run.
