UFC champion Aljamain Sterling has a name to worry about. UFC Nashville headliner between Cory Sandhagen and Rob Font has produced a victor that threatens to snatch away his crown. Dubbed a future world champion by the fans, Sandhagen was left without an opponent when Umar Nurmagomedov pulled out due to an injury. But Font took the fight on short notice on August 5 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, as he saw a worthy opponent in Sandhagen to climb up the ladder.

The fight soon transitioned to the ground as Font tried to lock in a guillotine, and later on, a kimura lock as he tried to squeeze in more space. In the second round, both fighters exchanged jabs, but the theme remained the same, Sandhagen gunning for takedowns and making the fight a grappling contest. He tried to dig in a right under-hook, attempted a kimura, and landed some heavy blows lock but Font displayed tougher defense. Font ate all the blows but lost another round. While his corner advised him not to give his lead leg away, Sandhagen again relied on the same weaponry to exploit his opponent.

Therefore, the third round also remained a replica of previous rounds. Sandhagen, making correct adjustments, converted the bout into a technical grappling match. The penultimate round and the final round also didn’t bring any violence for the fans, as the MMA fight remained a wrestling contest.
