Belal Muhammad had a unique journey to combat sports where he had left this industry for a while. However, someone from the past motivated him to come back and now he’s a champion after defeating Leon Edwards.

Muhammad spoke to WGNN News and retold the tale of him getting inspired by his teacher. “I was at high school, I wrestled two years there. And then I went to the University of Illinois and ran a campaign, I was gone for law, and I was not planning to do any sports. And I randomly came across him in a newspaper, my old high school coach, he was fighting at Strikeforce. And I sent him a message on Facebook, saying ‘you’re a fighter?’ He said , ‘yeah I am a fighter now!.’”

He described how his coach’s gym was near his mother’s house, and that is what inspired him to again start combat sports. Once he started competing, it was like an addiction, and then he told his parents that he wanted to pursue combat sports.

He said, “I told my parents to let me do it until I lose… Then I got into the UFC, and now I’m a world champion.” Since ‘Remember The Name’ has secured his position in UFC, what does his future hold?

Now White has apparently again given him the chance to fight Rakhmonov. However Muhammad took a jibe and posted a meme on X. He shared a picture of the UFC head honcho photoshopped as Laurence Fishburne’s character Morpheus, in the epic movie, ‘Matrix’. White was giving Muhammad two choices, with both of them being Rakhmonov.

Rakhmonov had declared how the timing was not sitting right and just after UFC304, Muhammad was not ready for another fight.meanwhile, it still seems that the new champion is still not satisfied with the matchup that Dana White is trying to make. Who do you think he is going to fight next?
