After a period of almost 2 years, Bellator champion Yaroslav Amosov will mark his return to promotion as he defends his title, against Logan Storley, at Bellator 291 on February 25. The Ukrainian fighter who unfortunately pulled out of his first title defense last year will endeavor to hold on to the title he won against Douglas Lima at Bellator 260. The welterweight fighter will carry the turmoil and expectations of his people when he makes his comeback on Saturday. Notably, the UFC legend Royce Gracie shared the story of the ‘Dynamo’ whose life took an unexpected turn in February last year. Narrating his struggles, the champion opened up about the hardships he faced during the difficult time.

Notably, the BJJ legend took to his Instagram handle as he shared the Bellator’s promotional video featuring the 29-year-old. Further, he teased about the significance of the comeback fight for the fighter. Thus, along with the event details, he captioned, “Yaroslav Amosov reflects on his journey through the war in Ukraine and what it means to come back and defend his title.”

Yaroslav Amosov revealed the adversities he endured

The undefeated fighter mentioned it was a different life now. In addition, he said, “Now I understand if people say I have a problem who not live from Ukrainian. I think, no, you not have a problem if you move different city.”

Following this, the former sambo champion recalled the fateful day and disclosed he drove 36 hours with no sleep. However, the American Top Team product realized he had to go back to his city to help his country.

Revisiting the horrors, the perfect 26-0 record holder expressed, “I remember many-many pictures in my head, you see. Many-many civil people, that old woman, kids, family. I don’t know why shoot old woman. Why shoot kids? It’s civil people.”

Subsequently, the welterweight kingpin recalled the incident when he called his mother to inquire about his championship belt. Her mother, in fact, hid his belt, which he later on recovered.

Amosov then informed that his friends nudged him to defend his belt and as a result, he left his city and started training.

Lastly, he specified his intention to go to his country post-fight. He continued, And I want show our world Ukrainian people, very strong. Very hard people. Maybe news for you, one Ukrainian guy defense belt. I fight for them.”

Yaroslav Amosov last fought when he captured the Bellator gold against Douglas Lima in June 2021.
