A section of the fanbase has always seen Cejudo as the true champion as he didn’t lose his title before retiring. On the other hand, Aljamain Sterling won the belt with a disqualification against Petr Yan and then, in their rematch, retained his position as a champion, via a split decision. Furthermore, he next faced Dillashaw, who was riddled with shoulder injuries during his whole training camp leading up to the fight.
However, he left the fans scratching their heads when he said, “I will say Ali brother, it’s done but it’s still not done until there’s ink on the paper but it’s done. But it’s still kind of not done but this is the fight that’s going to happen next.”
