“Never Thought I’d Be Pulling For Sterling”- Aljamain Sterling’s Confirmation of Next Title Defense Has Fans Split Over Whom to Favor

UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has already found an opponent. Former bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo returns from his hiatus to be the new challenger. ‘Funk Master’ is recovering from his straightforward win over T.J Dillashaw at UFC 280. Due to the nature of the fight and the injury Dillashaw suffered during training camp, it was not a challenge for the champion.

The bantamweight division is teeming with great fighters, and numerous fights can be made. Moreover, Sterling Vs Cejudo is a great matchup. The fighters are going back and forth ever since and ‘Funk Master’ controversially clinched the division’s title.

‘The Messenger’ is 12-2 inside the octagon. Moreover, after his two back-to-back losses against Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez, he racked up six straight wins before retiring. Furthermore, he dissed the current champions for his lack of activity post-title win, recounting how he fought Demetrious Johnson, T.J. Dillashaw, and Marlon Moraes, all title fights, over ten months.

Fans are split over the Sterling-Cejudo match-up

Sterling announced that his next opponent will be none other than former two-division Henry Cejudo. It’s a highly anticipated match.

On an Instagram post that discussed their potential fight, Henry Cejudo wrote, “The Liver King has a better chance of working for USADA than you do of beating me. Get off your a*s, take a shower and shave your v*g. CCC Vs Aljaqueef in March.

Several fans reacted to Sterling and Cejudo’s beef.

A fan came up with a funny nickname, “Aljamain the wordsmith Sterling.”

Another fan gave his prediction, “Cejudo wins.”

One fan commented, “Winner gets to claim king of cringe.

A fan predicted, “Henry in first.

One fan gave his two cents, “I would rather watch 2 dagestani kids wrestle.”

Never thought I’d be pulling for Sterling but please god don’t let Henry win.”

One fan was disappointed, “Chito vs Sean next year! I was hoping for an interim but whatever.

A section of the fanbase has always seen Cejudo as the true champion as he didn’t lose his title before retiring. On the other hand, Aljamain Sterling won the belt with a disqualification against Petr Yan and then, in their rematch, retained his position as a champion, via a split decision. Furthermore, he next faced Dillashaw, who was riddled with shoulder injuries during his whole training camp leading up to the fight.

However, he left the fans scratching their heads when he said, “I will say Ali brother, it’s done but it’s still not done until there’s ink on the paper but it’s done. But it’s still kind of not done but this is the fight that’s going to happen next.
