Conor McGregor took note of the developments that took place at UFC 280 and expressed his own ‘notorious’ take on it. The former UFC champion didn’t seem impressed by the performance put in by the new lightweight champion- Islam Makhachev. Following the event, the Irishman posted a string of tweets directed at him. However, the comments attracted the attention of the whole MMA community.

In particular, former multi-promotion welterweight champion Ben Askren went back and forth with him on Twitter.

Conor McGregor’s scathing comments on Islam Makhachev

When Islam Makhachev won the lightweight title on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, the lightweight belt once again returned to Dagestan. The fight, as expected, turned out to be a grappling contest. Not only Conor McGregor declared that he had the tools to defeat this fighting system, but he also called the Russian fighter “a sh*t jokes” and “fat mouth”.

Conor McGregor and Ben Askren’s banter that followed

Askren referred to the recent revelations that McGregor is yet to be tested by USADA in 2022. Further, Dana White confirmed in the UFC 280 post-event conference that the Irishman is not in USADA’s testing pool.

‘Funky’ accused McGregor of jumping the line for the championship belt. Further, Askren even advised him to get back to the USADA pool first.

Following this, the former two-division champion called the American fighter “jacka**” and rejected his advice.

However, Askren was relentless in his comments and hailed the Dublin-born athlete’s outside-the-Octagon actions as “annoying“. He further advised the 34-year-old to stop calling out people and retire.

Frustrated by Askren’s comments, ‘Mystic Mac’ challenged the American wrestler to a training session. Thus, he wrote, “Let’s train and we see what’s what then pal. You’ll know then what I’m saying. If you can’t see it already. I have the beating of this style. If you can’t see it, open your eyes and f**k off.”

Instead, Askren insisted that McGregor didn’t want to fight anymore as he was not in USADA’s pool. He continued and declared that ‘Mystic Mac’ was done[fighting].

But the 19-2 record holder had the last laugh. Again, reverting back to his recent trend of deleting the tweets, the scorching tweets disappeared from his account within a couple of hours.
