Could we be witnessing a showdown between Paddy Pimblett and Michael Chandler shortly? Both fighters have been in the headlines recently, and it seems like the stars may be aligning for a potential clash. Chandler, who has been waiting for a big opportunity, took a detour to face Charles Oliveira in a losing effort after his plans to face Conor McGregor fell through.
However, he’s remained optimistic about his prospects. Recently, ‘Iron’ has expressed interest in facing several high-profile opponents, including Conor McGregor, and yes, Paddy Pimblett. While McGregor has yet to respond to Chandler’s repeated challenges, Chandler did receive a shoutout from Masvidal, and there’s been some cryptic talk from Pimblett himself.
The English sensation, who most recently defeated King Green at UFC 304 via submission in round 1, seems to be focused on higher-ranked fighters. In a recent YouTube video showcasing his training, Pimblett said, “Nice end to the year, to be honest. I’m in good shape, about 84-85 kilos. People have been speculating who I am fighting and this and that. I’m coming for that belt, so I’m looking for higher-ranked fighters. And I’m sure you’ll see a fight announcement soon enough. I have said yeah, the opponent has said yeah. Just need to get stuff signed. And I’ll see you at the top”

Paddy ended the video with the line, “I’ll see you at the top” and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out whose catchphrase is that. You’re right! It belongs to Michael Chandler and has been the reason for buzz and speculation about this potential bout being finalized behind closed doors.
On the other side of the coin, Chandler himself has hinted at a possible 2025 showdown, but with a twist. He told Lucky Block, “If Conor doesn’t come back in the first half of 2025, I will be fighting someone else.” Could that “someone else” be Paddy Pimblett? Only time will tell, but this potential matchup is definitely one to keep an eye on.
“Paddy versus myself is gonna happen at some point, I’m not sure when but that’s a fight that interests me. It’s a fight that would be fun for the fans… It will definitely happen… That would be absolutely huge,” he continued. Meanwhile, Chandler is still seeking out ‘The Notorious’ even after many failed attempts and an almost fight against him at UFC 303.

It’s sensational news that Conor McGregor is in preliminary talks to face Logan Paul in India, a potential mega-event reportedly brokered with the involvement of the Ambani family, one of the wealthiest families in the world. McGregor hinted at the plans on X, stating, “The rumors of a bout with topurio are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition match in India. I have agreed and will then seek my return to the Octagon.”

But not everyone is thrilled about McGregor stepping away from the Octagon for this crossover bout. Michael Chandler quickly called him out again, replying, “Ring, cage, mat, canvas—whatever you want to call it. All you have to do is step up.” Chandler’s response underscores his ongoing frustration at McGregor’s lack of commitment to their once-scheduled bout.

It seems that the Missouri native is determined to capitalize on every opportunity in what could be the twilight of his career. With McGregor seemingly occupied outside the UFC, Chandler has been busy laying out a roadmap for 2025. He’s made no secret of his ambitions, openly challenging anyone he could find, even Jorge Masvidal.
Chandler’s callout of Masvidal came after ‘Gamebred’ hinted at a possible return to MMA in 2025. Chandler took to X to say, “Where you at, Jorge?”—a nod to Nick Diaz’s iconic callout of Georges St-Pierre. Surprisingly, Masvidal responded positively and agreed to a potential fight in April, adding another layer of intrigue to Chandler’s plans. What do you think?
