UFC 281: Adesanya vs Pereira took place on Nov 12 at the world’s biggest stage, Madison Square Garden. The wild main card featured two championship bouts and other exciting fights that fans were waiting for. However, the second prelims fight featuring the women’s flyweight bout between Erin Blanchfield and Molly McCann attracted the eyeballs.

While ‘Meatball’ looked to take her career to the next step. The only active Brit female fighter entered the fight, riding on a 3-win stream momentum. However, the talented #12 flyweight fighter had a resolution of her own.

What happened in the fight at UFC 281?

Both the fighters exchanged punches but ‘Cold Blooded’ took the veteran down in the initial moments of round 1. Thus, putting McCann in a bad spot. Further, the 23-year-old fighter unleashed a barrage of punches to her face, and after beating the veteran bad, went for a Kimura lock.

While the American fighter never let McCann escape from the ground, the situation went from bad to worse for the Brit. After missing the first Kimura lock, the 9-1 record holder finally successfully submitted the UFC veteran via Kimura lock.

This dreadful ‘Meatball’ position even prompted the color commentator Joe Rogan to shout “Please tap” as the sight became unbearable to watch for the fans. Later on, the color commentator pointed out in the cage interview that he was worried that Blanchfield might break McCann’s arm.

However, Rogan earlier also referred to Molly McCann’s personality when she made her entrance. Furthermore, the crowd cheered for the fighter as she walked out to the Octagon. Thus, Rogan said, “It’s that cult of personality thing. Whatever it is she’s got.”
