“Put Him in the Front Lines We’ll Never Lose a War Again” – Fans React as Yoel Romero Receives His US Citizenship

Former UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero has finally achieved his goal of obtaining US citizenship. Fans have taken to social media to express their excitement and support for the athlete. Romero’s journey to citizenship began in 2007 when he defected from Cuba to Germany following a wrestling tournament. He knew that if he wanted to pursue a career in MMA, he would have to leave Cubas since the opportunities there were limited. In order to do so, he had to say goodbye to his family and make a new life in Germany. Unlike many others, Romero’s story is not a straightforward one. After competing in a wrestling tournament in Germany, he decided to stay there for several years.
However, if he wanted to continue his MMA journey, he knew he needed to move to the United States. The competition level in Germany and nearby Poland was not challenging enough for him. In addition, with his Olympic wrestling silver medal and boxing experience, he was becoming a big fish in a small pond.
This ultimately led Romero to the American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida. He and his family now reside in Miami, which is a great fit for him, as there is a large Cuban and Hispanic community. This move has allowed him to pursue his dream of becoming a successful MMA athlete while also achieving his goal of obtaining US citizenship.
