UFC middleweight fighter, Kelvin Gastelum, had to withdraw from the UFC’s first main event of 2023 on Monday due to a mouth injury and is now in a back-and-forth with Conor McGregor. The injury was due to a wayward blow that hurt his face in the gym. In addition, this left Gastelum unable to compete against Nassourdine Imavov on Jan. 14. As a result, Sean Strickland stepped in on short notice to fight Imavov instead.

Gastelum hasn’t been in form for the last few years. Moreover, he has only won one out of his last six fights. He was looking to get back to the winning ways with a win in his next fight. However, an injury means he has to pull out and wait for the next matchup.

Gastelum’s injury is a setback, but he is intent on bouncing back and resuming to compete at the highest level. He’s been a consistent contender in the middleweight division and is looking forward to getting back into the octagon soon. He is expected to make a full recovery in no time and will be ready to compete again.

Kelvin Gastelum fires back at ‘The Notorious’

Conor McGregor, known for his trash-talking antics, took a humorous dig at Gastelum’s injury by suggesting it was a staph infection and that Gastelum should clean his mats and go to the doctor. But Gastelum was not going to take the former UFC double division champion’s comments lying down. He responded to McGregor’s jest by saying that he will be back stronger and healthier after his dental surgery. Conor McGregor has suffered injuries before too, but always came back and did it again.

He said, “Relax u lil leprechaun. The coke and steroids are kicking in.

The dig was in relation to McGregor’s recent buffed up body. In addition, to his now deleted recent graphic photos showcasing his new Rolex Day-Date ‘Green’ in 18k yellow gold, with diamonds while choking his own neck.
