“Say it to Trump” – Ian Garry Blasts ‘Coward’ Colby Covington of Ducking ‘I Quit’ Match

Colby Covington is back. The loudmouth American has been in a no man’s zone after his UFC 296 loss to welterweight champion Leon Edwards in December last year but is back in the spotlight because of his recent feud with Ian Garry.
The undefeated Garry, who beat #10 ranked welterweight Geoff Neal last month, called out ‘Chaos’ after his victory and the duo have been involved in a heated back and forth on social media since. After Covington put forth three conditions to accept the fight and insulted Garry’s beleaguered wife, ‘The Future’ challenged the former interim champion to an ‘I Quit’ match.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Ian Garry spoke about Covington’s video, where ‘Chaos’ stipulated that: Garry turn on the comments on his social media; his wife, Layla Anna-Lee convince the fans why the fight needs to happen; and that she appear in a video with Covington promoting a betting site.
‘The One’ termed Covington’s call-out as weak as it targeted his wife and none of the stipulations had anything to do with their fight. Garry had responded to ‘Chaos’s video by challenging him to a ‘I quit’ match, a WWE fixture, where a bout doesn’t end until one of the fighters says ‘I quit’, with the loser having to retire from MMA.

In the interview, Garry doubled down on the challenge and said that he wanted to not only make ‘Chaos’ quit, but do it in front of former President Donald Trump, whom Covington supports almost fanatically, and who was present at UFC 296 to watch Covington get humiliated by Edwards.

“I’m going to make Colby say (I quit) – that’s what we’re going to do. I’m going to have him, pounding his face on the canvas. I’m going to point his face at Donald Trump, and I’m going to be like, ‘Say it – say it to your president. Don’t say it to me. Say it to Trump. I want him to look into your eyes when you say (I quit),” he said. Even as the bad blood between the two men intensifies, Garry has been called out by another up-and-coming star.
‘MVP’ challenges Garry

Micahel ‘Venom’ Page made his much-awaited UFC debut on the main card of UFC 299 earlier this month. Already a star coming into the UFC, ‘MVP’ showcased his dynamic and creative striking in a win against #7 ranked Kevin Holland, helping him break into the rankings straight away.
The former Bellator star has made his intentions of contending for a title clear and has the perfect opponent in mind: Ian Garry. Both are young, dynamic strikers, who are close to getting into the title mix and have name recognition among UFC fans.
“Just looking at the rankings system, I think the one that probably make the most sense would be an Ian Garry,” ‘MVP’ said in an interview with Ariel Helwani. “In the UK as well, it’s perfect. So that would be a lot of noise there. I think that’s a good fight and I think he’s ranked seventh. Seven is my lucky number.”

Garry, however, is more interested in fighting Covington, and for good reason. ‘Chaos’ is likely to be an easier fight given ‘Chaos’s age and recent form and a victory over whom would help him get into the title mix much more than a victory over ‘MVP’ at the moment.
