Francis Ngannou took the world by storm with his thunderous one-punch knockout power. The Cameroonian fighter completed his rags-to-riches story when he became the UFC heavyweight champion at UFC 260. Subsequently, he successfully defended his title at UFC 270. While the fans are eager to see ‘The Predator’ back in the Octagon, the fighter finds himself in a tight spot over contractual demands.

In the latest segment of his popular podcast- ‘Beyond the Fight’, Chael Sonnen talked at length about Ngannou’s contractual complications. Further, the UFC veteran broke down the implications for the fans as he dived deep into the economics of the things.

What did Sonnen say about Francis Ngannou?

Sonnen started the video by affirming the news that the heavyweight champion demanded a renegotiation of the contract after every fight. Following this, the submission grappler pointed out that Ngannou had been consistent and above that, he was polite.

However, the former title contender mentioned that he had witnessed the same scenario akin to watching a movie. Notably, the movie had the same beginning, middle, and the same plot every time, with the only difference being the F9 star being polite.

Further, the podcast host also contended that one opted to go to the public to gain public support while referring to Ngannou’s public remarks about his new contract negotiations. But the 45-year-old also lauded Francis Ngannou for being a straight-up gentleman, as he never heard the Batie-born fighter resorting to profanity.

Later on, Sonnen observed, “Francis said it wasn’t sorted, and he made a comment he said ‘man things, things weren’t always rough with the UFC. Things weren’t always rocky like this. He said, ‘I told Dana White once he said I didn’t even mean to, I didn’t mean to ruffle any feathers. I had just told everyone to say hey we can renegotiate after each fight’.”

In addition, the Submission Underground founder revealed that the Xtreme Couture team representative felt things were different after putting forth his demands.

Lastly, Sonnen suggested that caused a huge disrespect that the fighter didn’t mean. Notably, the 17-3 record holder himself said that he didn’t mean disrespect with his demands.

Sonnen’s inner Dana White persona

In the latter half of the video, the veteran fighter drew a parallel with the lemon laws. Further, he channelized his inner businessman.

Calling the renegotiation before each ridiculous, Sonnen gave a reverse argument. He mentioned that repeated talks would only slow down the UFC president, Dana White. Although a quick knockout always excited the fans, but also would result in TV revenue loss.

Afterward, Sonnen commented, “There’s a whole multi-billion dollar industry around that. That people know who you are and they want to use you, by the way, I think… If you don’t understand that concept, probably shouldn’t be trusting you with money in the first place.”
