John Kavanagh poses a pertinent question to MMA fans, which seems to jeopardize the TUF Finale this year. The lead man at SBG Ireland is in the corner with Conor McGregor, helping his hand-picked fighters at the TUF train. While Season 31 of TUF has been a nightmare for the Irish duo so far, he is ready to find the loopholes in the bigger game. The noted coach has come up with a tongue-in-the-cheek response that not only addresses the Irish fighter’s peculiar situation but also asks a tricky question regarding USADA rules.
The 46-year-old coach is sharing the burden with ‘The Notorious’ to train Team McGregor, which currently trails 0-5. Traditionally, the coaches selected for TUF face off against each other at the culmination of the season. With ‘Mystic Mac’ still out of the USADA testing pool, his comeback fight against Michael Chandler is also hanging by a thread. However, only an exception saves the fight from collapsing. Likewise, the MMA coach is speculating on a similar situation in TUF Finale as he tossed off the scenario to those “smarter” than him.

If a vet does, then he has to re-enter the USADA pool, which mandates a stipulation of 6 months before the competition. But the deadline to enter the pool in such a scenario has lapsed already. Therefore, he questions whether a Finale can happen this year. It is the same murky scenario his disciple McGregor currently finds himself in.
He wrote, “a question on this season of @UltimateFighter for those smarter than me. if a ‘vet’ makes it to the finale they’ll have to re-enter @usantidoping pool right? thats 6mths testing before competition? so finale cant happen until 2024?”

Further, the MMA fighter-turned-coach also rebutted the assumption of all the TUF fighters are in the USADA pool.
They're not.

Similarly, he also responded with a rhetorical remark when one fan speculated the fighters were admitted into the pool upon the completion of the filming.
You would think eh

Therefore, Kavanagh projects a likely scenario where only an exemption to a vet can likely result in TUF Finale. He indirectly asks if a vet might avail an exception, then what stops his disciple McGregor?

Is Conor McGregor fighting in 2023?
As per the USADA rules, every UFC athlete has to be subjected to a specific number and type of tests over a stretch of six months. A minimum period of six months in the testing pool is thus required before competing professionally.
Notably, the Dubliner failed to meet the USADA’s 16 June 2023 deadline to make him eligible for UFC’s last scheduled PPV of the year. Thus, a few questions have popped up regarding his comeback fight this year. However, fans still remain hopeful.
