UFC champion Jan Blachowicz spoke to Submission Radio ahead of his title defense that is slated for UFC 266. The Polish champion will take on veteran divisional contender Glover Teixeira who has put in a late-career run. Teixeira has gone through some heavy hitters and finally finds himself in a spot to challenge for gold.
Glover Teixeira fought Jon Jones back at UFC 172 and was battered in a unanimous decision loss to ‘Bones’. Since then, he lost some clinical match-ups, and it seemed like his time at the top was all but done. However, the 41-year-old has put together an incredibly resilient 5-fight win streak, two of those coming against former champions.

How will Jan Blachowicz vs Glover Teixeira play out?
Jan Blachowicz candidly spoke on his perception of Glover Teixeira’s game plan when they finally square off. Additionally, Blachowicz has a lot of respect for what Teixeira has accomplished and would gladly be his potential retirement fight. Despite the respect he felt towards the Brazilian veteran, Jan Blachowicz wasn’t going to lose sight of the ultimate goal.
Blachowicz said, “It’s not a secret, I think he will try to take me down and control me on the ground, finish fight on the ground and my game plan will be to keep fighting stand-up and try to knock him out. I will try to do this, defend his takedowns, watch out for his boxing skills but if he tries to take me down I will try to stand up. My Jiu-Jitsu is really good so I will not panic if I get a chance to submit him, I will try to do this… It will be a pleasure for me to do his last fight in his life with me. So, I do the best fight I can to give it to him but ‘Sorry Glover, I have to knock you out.’ It’s not my problem.”
