The decision to relinquish the UFC title takes heart, and it seems Jamahal Hill got one. ‘Sweet Dreams’ sent shockwaves when he uploaded an emotional video on his YouTube channel. The decision to forfeit the title shocked the fans and also posed another serious question about the future of the 205 lbs division. While the decision must have been hard on him, the American fighter was only following the footsteps of another former champion.

The light heavyweight division has been in flux, and it all started with Jiri Prochazka. ‘Denisa’ claimed the UFC gold against Glover Teixeira at UFC 275. However, his reign at the top was short-lived as he suffered a horrific shoulder injury. After serious deliberations, the Czech fighter decided to not hold up the decision and surrendered the championship. Now, a year later, his decision inspired Hill, and he is the only person who can resonate with and understand the turmoil of his American counterpart.

He also asked the important question that has grabbed the fans and pundits alike. The title picture is now clouded with uncertainty and the most influential fight upcoming is Alex Pereira vs Jan Błachowicz at UFC 291.

Thus, the former LHW champion addressed further, “Who is next? winner Blachowicz X Pereira or ?#IAMTHECHAMPION ///\\\”

After throwing Prochazka in the mix, it might be a three-way fight to the coveted LHW title. However, the picture is more complex than it appears.

Despite the significant match at UFC 291 and with Prochazka in rehabilitation, there is one more fighter who has a stake in the title picture. After Prochazka left the throne, Blachowicz fought a draw with Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 282 for the vacant title. Many believed that the Russian had done enough to bag the title shot.

The controversial decision then led to another title fight as Hill fought Teixeira, and it appeared normalcy was restored in the LHW. But with Hill sidelined with a torn Achilles, the division is again devoid of a champion.
