Who doesn’t like a bloody affair? And Benoit Saint-Denis didn’t disappoint his home crowd at UFC Paris. When the UFC caravan moved to the city of lights, Paris, the fight card offered fans high-paced action and fireworks. A win at the Accor Arena promised fighters a shot at glory and, especially for the French fighter, a rise in the rankings. Further, the 27-year-old fighter’s latest win might trouble a certain Islam Makhachev.

‘God of War’ came into the fight on the heels of a 4-win streak after dropping his debut fight. In addition, his 100% finish record had already made him a daunting name. Meanwhile, his opponent, Thiago Moises, was on a two-win streak after dropping his previous two. But the Brazilian fighter became a stepping stone in the French fighter’s career.

Notably, Benoit Saint-Denis won the fight via knockout in round two and would break into the lightweight rankings after his latest win.

What happened in the fight at UFC Paris?

Moises assumed the aggressor’s role as he unleashed leg kicks early in the fight. But in an exchange of leg kicks, he suffered a low blow. When the fight resumed, Saint-Denis put forward pressure but again accidentally landed a low kick. However, that didn’t halt Saint-Denis’ momentum as he unleashed a barrage of shots and, after pushing Moises to the cage, gained control of the fight.

Further, his left jabs and violent combinations wobbled Moises and Saint-Denis, who then took the fight to the mat. What followed next was brutal ground-and-pound. An elbow by Saint Silver cut open Moises’ face, and by the end of the first round bell, a blood fountain was gushing down Moises’ head.

In the second round, the crowd-favorite was gunned down for a takedown, and he wore down Moises in a clinching position. In addition, the French crowd got behind every strike. Saint Denis’ elbows and punches cut deep into Moises’ face, and he then tried to take Moises’ back. With 30 seconds left on the clock, Saint Denis pushed the peddle and pace of his blows, which prompted the referee to stop the action.

In the post-fight interview, he said, “No one can box with me. I’ll have the belt around my waist. I’m gonna keep on going until I have the belt.”

How did the fans react to the bloody affair?
