Rogan’s profound knowledge and curiosity drive the podcast. In a recent episode, the JRE host delved into the traumatic past of his guest, David Goggins.

The former Fear Factor host listened to Goggins as he narrated a painful story from his past involving a stepfather.

David Goggins had to enlist for the Air Force Bootcamp and leave his mother married to his stepfather, who was a convicted murderer. As Goggins described it, it was a nightmarish experience for the young man. His mother’s safety and well-being were all that mattered to him. All the while, he was training to serve his country.

Upon hearing this, Joe Rogan commented, “The idea of you going off to boot camp, knowing that your mom’s going to be alone with this guy getting out of prison. That s**t must’ve been haunting…!” and exclaimed, “Oh my god!”

The podcast host felt terrible about the situation Goggins went through. He asked, “What was it like when you met him?”

Goggins met his convicted stepfather at his Air Force Graduation ceremony. He elaborated that even his mother felt embarrassed about their situation.

Goggins‘s mother told him that the guy she met was into drug trafficking. But, later in his life, Goggins discovered that it was much more than just drugs.

The guy had a record of crime related to narcotics. But, the most significant of all was murder. According to Goggins, his stepfather “choked a woman to death” over a drug-related quarrel.

The ‘Never Finished’ author saw a lot of red flags in this person. But the toughest decision Goggins ever made was leaving his mother alone with someone that dangerous.
