UFC welterweight Mike Perry spoke to ‘The Schmo’ down in Florida and provided a status update on his career. ‘Platinum’ Mike also explained his side of the story regarding certain allegations thrown around by Colby Covington. ‘Chaos’ accused his former teammate out of MMA Masters of not paying his gym fees and trainer fees.
Covington went off on Perry and called him out for fleecing the gym, which he now calls home. When Mike Perry was asked to comment on the accusations, he explained that MMA Masters didn’t corner him up to his satisfaction. Moreover, he defended his position saying that the lines of communication weren’t clear when it came time to pay-up.
“Listen. I tried to pay those guys, tried to do business with those guys. I spoke with them. Whoever I talked to over Instagram, I said, ‘what’s up man, I want to pay you guys something like this. If you don’t like that number, tell me what you think you deserve?’

“There was no message response back… The team didn’t come [as cornermen] and they still seem to think they’re going to get this full percentage so people can throw dirt on my name but I tried to do business and they didn’t want to communicate it.”
“If you wanted some money, I worked out for two months. What do you want per month? A gym membership is like $150 a month. I was going to give you $1000-$2000. I didn’t win, I’m not the highest-paid fighter in the business. What do you think you guys deserve?”

Mike Perry: Where does he go from here?
Perry hasn’t had a stable training environment for a meaningful period as he’s chosen to bounce around different gyms. By the looks of things, his time at MMA Masters has come to a definitive end. However, Perry is on a skid in his career having a 1-4 record in his last 5 fights.
As his UFC contract reaches its end, Mike Perry will be keen to finish off his deal on a high. He has entertained the idea of dabbling in the realm of boxing. Now, it remains to be seen how he progresses from here.
